In the last 20 years or so we have seen an increase in the popularity of people having tribal cross tattoos applied to their bodies. Along with them being inked on to the back like David Beckham, some people prefer theirs to be applied to the chest or to their arms or even their legs. However, what one should be aware of is that there are many reasons why people choose to have these types of tattoos over many others.

In this article we look at some of the main reasons why a person is opting to have a tribal cross tattoo.

Reason 1 - They are looking for a tattoo that is distinctive and yet will help to show others their personality. The majority of styles have been inspired by the designs used by Maori Tribes of New Zealand and which are worn with pride by many members of the national rugby team known as the All Blacks. These particular designs are very simplistic and use very bold shapes but are created using only black ink.

Reason 2 - Many people are looking for a way to make a statement about who they are and this is the reason they choose to go for this type of tattoo. However, not only is this design telling us something about the person who is wearing it but it offers an opportunity to learn more about them. You may well be surprised when you ask someone why they have chosen this design is because they feel it truly reflects their ancestry or it is because they believe something that the tribe whose design it is stands for.
